100 new Scania’s for Butter Group
Marc Nijdam, director and co-owner of the Butter Group, recently signed the purchase contract for 80 new Scania’s, on top of the 20 Scania’s of which was ordered in the spring of 2010. These new trucks are partly for increase of the rolling stock and partly for the replacement of older tractor units.
Butter Group has chosen for Scania type R400, with full automatic gearbox. This truck is the light weighted, technically advanced and very reliable. Also, these trucks meet the highest environmental standards, without the help of chemical additives (Ad blue). Other truck brands need to use Ad blue to meet the required Euro-5 standard. The Scania engines are developed further, so an Ad blue tank is not required. This means less weight and less costs.
Butter Group appreciates a nice appearance and therefore we have chosen for the combination of a Scania tractor unit and an own built W-concept belted bulk trailer. Butter Group will put on the road another 100 W-concept bulkers to provide the new trucks with new trailers. Butter Group builds this patented trailer of only 4960 kg in our own workshop in Holland, in cooperation with Knapen Trailers in Deurne (NL).
The increase of rolling stock among others is required, while Butter Group signed a contract with chips producer Mc.Cain for the transport of raw potatoes to the factory in Bethune (F).

 NEWS
CO2-neutral transport

At Butter Group it is possible to transport your bulk products 100% CO2-neutral.

Butter Group has been making efforts to reduce the fuelconsumption and thus the CO2-emissions for years already. Measures taken are amongst other things building own lightweight trailers (1500kg more load per ride, thus less fuelconsumption per transported kilogramme), use of spoilers, tires filled with nitrogen (less pressureloss, thus less rolling resistance), use of LPG-installations for a better combustion of the diesel.

These measures limit admittedly the CO2-emission, but don’t make the transport CO2-neutral. By investing in CO2-compensating projects, such as building wind farms, hydroelectric, solarpanels and investments in durable forrestprojects the CO2-emission will be compensated.
Butter offers its customers the possibility to participate in this compensation, which will be invested one on one in CO2-compensating projects, thus making the transport for these customers entirely CO2-neutral.

These investments will be made in cooperation with the “Climate Neutal Group”, which has amongst others customers like Canon Europe, ING Group, UNICEF. More information can be found on www.climateneutralgroup.com.

When you are also interested in CO2-neutral transport of your bulk agricultural products, please contact Marc Nijdam (+31 321 389610 or marc@butter.nl).
